USAR TEAM

In addition to Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) Volunteers, the Province of Manitoba also has a 100 member Heavy Urban Search and Rescue (HUSAR) team that is also made up of Volunteers. Manitoba's provincial HUSAR team is one of five National teams that were formed by the federal government after 911.

Although the federal funding for these teams ended in 2013, Manitoba's team CANTF4 continues to operate and is now functioning as an "All Hazards Emergency Response Team".

Members of the team are spread throughout the province and have a variety of skill sets and background. Many of the original team members belong to government agencies that agreed to support the original National program. Since then however many of the team members have been selected from the Search and Rescue Manitoba Volunteer network.
